Maersk expands Middle East–Mediterranean service with Damietta call

The maritime group Maersk is strengthening the integration of its services between the Middle East and the Eastern Mediterranean by highlighting Damietta (Egypt) as a major connection point for cargo traffic, particularly bulk carriers and general cargo.
The port of Damietta, recently brought into the spotlight after receiving a record shipment of 138,200 tons of dry bulk ore from China, illustrates the growing strategic importance of this stop in transshipment networks.
This stop enhances the connectivity of the JEDDAH 3 service and the East-West rotations in the Mediterranean, offering shippers additional routing options and more flexible corridors between the Middle East, North Africa, and Europe.
Maersk is thus intensifying its regional coverage, strengthening existing logistics hubs while improving the fluidity of maritime operations and supporting the diversification of shipping routes for cargo of all sizes and types.
The addition of Damietta reflects broader strategies aimed at balancing East-West flows and optimizing port capacities in the region’s key trade corridors.
