Kenya Airways transports first rally cars for 2026 Safari Rally

Kenya Airways has safely flown the first consignment of two high-performance rally cars into Jomo Kenyatta International Airport as preparations continue for the 2026 World Rally Championship Safari Rally Kenya.
The shipment arrived on March 9 and forms part of the logistics build-up to the event, which is scheduled to take place in Naivasha from March 12 to 15.
This marks the fourth consecutive year that Kenya Airways has transported rally vehicles for the competition, reinforcing the airline’s role in supporting one of the country’s most prominent international sporting events.
The carrier is also handling the movement of precision spare parts, rally officials, international teams, spectators and fans from around the world.
George Kamal, acting group managing director and chief executive of Kenya Airways, said the arrival of the rally cars aboard the airline’s freighter fleet was a proud moment both for the carrier and for Kenya. He said the partnership reflects the airline’s commitment to serving as a bridge connecting global sporting excellence with Kenya’s world-class destinations.
The vehicles being carried are Rally1 hybrid cars, which require highly specialised handling because of their complex engineering, high value and sensitive battery systems.
Fitsum Abadi, director of cargo at Kenya Airways, said the successful delivery of the cars reflects the precision and expertise of the airline’s cargo team. He added that each vehicle embodies power, speed and technical accuracy, values that align closely with the standards Kenya Airways aims to deliver.
Kenya Airways currently serves 42 destinations worldwide, including 33 in Africa, and moves more than 70,000 tonnes of cargo a year through its Nairobi hub.
